July’s topic is a review of the founding ideas of the United States government. I’ve called it Civics 101 because this topic is the founding ideas and basis of our entire government. Especially in this time when the current president acts more like King George III, doing whatever suits his hourly whim and ignoring the structure of the Constitution and the spirit of representative democracy, a review of why we broke away from England in the first place seems like a good primer to our own times. The ideas of consent of the governed and a division between the authority to write laws being separated from the respsonsbility to carry out or execute the laws were foundational to our country.

If we throw away these basis principles, if the president acts like a tyrant, what happens to our republic? Click on the link below to view Civics 101.
